New IP address

If there is no obvious reason that you have a different IP address than the last time you accessed shrib.co, you are strongly recommended to log out of shrib.co at <http://shrib.co?o>;.

An "obvious reason" may be if you are on a mobile network with a smartphone or laptop, or if your internet service provider happens to assign a new IP address to your access point - which is rather unusual as far as I know.

Background

When a user logs in to shrib.co with a username and password, a session is created and stored on that user's device as a "cookie". Until the session times out, the cookie is the key to the account. If it is "stolen" by someone else, that other person can get full access to the entire account.

One way to suspect that your session is stolen is if it is used with a different IP address because this happens in one of the following two cases:

Therefore, you get an indicator when the same session is used on a different IP address, including the last time the session was used.

If you do suspect your session might be stolen, you can simply log out by going to <http://shrib.co?o>; and log back in. This will create a new session cookie and the old one will be invalid - the session thief will not be able to access your account anymore.
